DESCRIPTION: LeRoy, a Paris, a small Contre- Partie Boulle bracket clock with pull repeat, the case with polychrome, naturalistic ornament set into the brass veneer, the base with central mask, scroll feet, and foliate mounts conforming to the curves of the case, kidney shape, molded brass door with leaf and shell ornament, gadrooned brass cornice terminating in leaf and scroll mounts, and with central shell, the removable pagoda top surmounted by a seated figure of a small boy, in his left hand an hourglass with wings, and his right arm raised, the top concealing three bells, signed brass dial with Roman numeral enamel cartouches, finely finished blued steel hands, signed brass movement with tapered baluster form pillars, large barrel and five wheel train, crown wheel escapement, and sounding the last hour and quarter by pulling a cord, all resting on a matching, incurved bracket
CONDITION: veneers with losses and lifting, veneers on case sides with checking, mounts on clock case lacking gilding, top with old repairs, brass veneer on top with solder repair, base with replaced glue block, bottom with unused hole on left corresponding to hole at right for repeat cord, one cartouche with hairline, another with chips, hands with minor oxide, movement dirty but ticking and repeating correctly, pendulum replaced, bracket with polish residue, minor veneer lifting, board on which the clock sits with alteration, may be replaced
